According to information, the police had received a tip-off that three suspects behind the Fatehgarh Churian police post blast were going towards the Rajasansi area. Police teams swung into action and nabbed them. Two of them attempted to escape and fired at the police party. In retaliatory firing by the police, they were injured.

Bhullar said the trio was part of the terror module of gangster-turned-terrorist Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Passian.

They have been identified as Lovepreet Singh, Karandeep Singh and Buta Singh, all residents of the Amritsar rural belt. Karandeep and Buta Singh were injured in the retaliatory firing.

The Police Commissioner said they had received a packet containing some explosives, which was used to carry out the blast outside the police post on February 3.

Buta Singh had hired Lovepreet and Karandeep at the behest of Happy Passian.
