Gurpreet Ghuggi, other Punjabi artistes deliver aid, hope for rebuilding lives after floods

As Punjab grapples with the aftermath of recent floods, the region’s singers and actors have expressed solidarity, offering both emotional and material support to those affected. Many have taken the lead in contributing towards relief operations, running parallel efforts alongside district administration officials.

Joining the long list, renowned actor Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi recently sent truckloads of silage (cattle fodder) to the Ajnala area. He also met with Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney to discuss ongoing relief efforts and pledged further support. Ghuggi assured the administration, on behalf of himself and his colleagues, that they would extend help not just in the current phase of relief, but also in the reconstruction of homes for the needy once the floodwaters recede.

Highlighting the generosity and resilient spirit that Punjabis across the world are known for, Ghuggi said, “Punjabis everywhere have considered this crisis their own. They’ve stepped up wholeheartedly to help. While immediate relief has been pouring in, I urge everyone to now focus on the next phase that is rebuilding. Many homes have been destroyed and people need our help to start over. My friends and I will support this effort along with the administration.”

He said essential needs such as cattle feed, medicines, clothing and household items are now required as people begin rebuilding their homes and lives.

Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney expressed gratitude toward Punjabi artists for their active involvement during the crisis. She said, “Punjabi artists have truly stood by the people and the administration during this challenging time. Their love and support have been inspiring. Their efforts have encouraged many others to join ground operations and accelerated the momentum of relief work.”
