Rail traffic on the busy Amritsar-Delhi railway section remained paralysed for over three hours on Tuesday night after a goods train got derailed near the Manawala railway station, about 10 km from the Amritsar railway station. Sources in the railways stated that the incident occurred at about 8.30 pm last night during shunting of the goods train.

Passengers, especially on board five arriving trains which were stopped at different stations in order to clear the mainline, were harassed. It was at about 11:30 pm that the traffic was restored.
