Rolls for Zila Parishad & Panchayat Samiti polls to be updated

The State Election Commission, Punjab, has announced the schedule for updating electoral rolls for the upcoming elections to Zila Parishads and Panchayat Samitis, set to be held by October 5 this year.

District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Tarn Taran, Rahul stated here on Sunday that the electoral rolls will be updated with a qualifying date of September 1, 2025, to ensure that all eligible voters are included. The eligible voters must be at least 18 years of age on the qualifying date and ordinarily resident in

a constituency.

DEO-cum-DC Rahul added that the draft publication of existing electoral rolls is expected by August 19. People can file claims and objections from August 20 to August 27, and the same will be disposed of by September 1. The final publication of electoral rolls would be done on September 3.

The District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner directed all electoral registration officers-cum-Sub-Divisional Magistrates to strictly adhere to the schedule so that all eligible voters in Zila Parishads and Panchayat Samitis can participate in the process.
