The district unit of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Sudhar Lehar, under the leadership of SGPC member Manjit Singh Bhura Kona, presented a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kumar here on Thursday regarding the demands of the people of the state. The memorandum is to be forwarded to Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria.

Manjit Singh said that the current demands of the Lehar include rolling back the prices of petrol and diesel and increasing the rates levied by Powercom and the bus fare. The other demands mentioned in the memorandum include putting a check on drugs and crime incidents like looting, snatching, murder etc. The Sudhar Lehar urged the Punjab Governor to do the needful.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
