District and Sessions Judge, Tarn Taran, Priya Sood along with other judicial officers on Thursday visited the Central Jail at Goindwal Sahib here.

The Sessions Judge checked living conditions of the inmates and also took stock of sanitary conditions in the kitchen and the barracks. The Judge ordered the jail authorities to redress the problems of the inmates. The authorities were also instructed to conduct regular medical examination of the inmates and sanitise the jail complex.

The Sessions Judge apprised the inmates of their rights and the free legal aid facility being provided them. CJM Pratima Arora, who is also the Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Civil Judge (Senior Division) Pankaj Verma, Chief Judicial Magistrate Shilpa were among others who accompanied the District and Sessions Judge. — OC
