SGPC opposes parole to head of Sirsa dera Gurmeet Ram Rahim

Amritsar, August 13
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has strongly opposed the repeated parole given to the jailed Sirsa dera chief. He was once again released from the Rohtak’s Sunaria prison for 21 days.
SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami termed it a political agenda of the BJP-led Haryana Government prior to the elections.
He said the dera head convicted in serious crimes was being repeatedly given relief at the instance of the Haryana Government that had been misguiding the court and hurting the Sikh sentiments.
“Despite raising objections repeatedly, the BJP-led Union and the Haryana governments never give meaningful revert. They have been kind to a person directly involved in sacrilege cases of 2015, besides facing murder and rape charges just to gain political mileage in the upcoming Haryana poll. On the other hand, the ‘Bandi Singhs’ who have completed their sentences were still languishing in jails in violation of human rights,” he said.
