SGRD Hospital inaugurates Vertigo and Balance Centre in city

The state-of-the-art facility is equipped with advanced diagnostic technologies and offers tailored rehabilitation therapies for individuals suffering from balance disorders, ensuring comprehensive care and improved quality of life for patients.
The centre was inaugurated by Harjinder Singh Dhami, president, Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee. Dhami highlighted the significant advancements brought to the region by SGRD Hospital, which now features cutting-edge diagnostic technology that was once limited to a few specialised vertigo treatment centres across India.
He emphasised that this facility is the first of its kind in the region, utilising an interdisciplinary, process-driven approach to develop tailored treatment plans that cater to the unique needs of patients suffering from vertigo and dizziness.
Dr AP Singh, Dean, Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences, said that vertigo is a complex symptom that can arise from approximately 40 different conditions affecting the inner ear and brain. He highlighted the importance of accurate diagnosis, noting that vertigo and dizziness can be effectively treated when identified through specialised testing.
Dr Arvinder Singh Sood, Professor and Head, ENT Department, said this clinic is equipped with diagnostic technology enabling healthcare professionals to pinpoint the specific causes of dizziness and balance issues. He added that in addition to offering differential diagnoses for those experiencing dizziness and vertigo, the centre is committed to delivering specialised rehabilitation therapies, ensuring that patients receive holistic support throughout their recovery journey.
Dr Srinivas Dorsala, renowned vertigo specialist from Bengaluru, demonstrated the equipment and facility promising his full support in future endeavours regarding vertigo. Rupinder Singh, Senior Manager, Gagan Associates, donated a coblator and high-frequency oxygen flow meter to the university for the welfare of patients.
