Sikh Forum elects office-bearers

Padma Bhushan Prof Sardara Singh Johal, former Chancellor of Central University Bathinda and former Vice-Chancellor Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, was appointed patron, Prof Hari Singh Pradhan and Mandeep Singh Bedi were appointed honorary secretaries and Dr Sarabjit Singh Chhina, famous economist and president of UNESCO India, will be the chief adviser of the “Sikh Forum”.
These appointments were announced during a meeting of the forum held here on Sunday.
Prof Johal in his message, which was read in the proceedings of the meeting, said “The Sikh Forum, Amritsar, started in 2015 by late Bhag Singh Ankhi comply with the principles which were compatible with Sikh ethics and tradition.”
Prof Hari Singh, Chairman, Dharma Prachar Committee, Chief Khalsa Diwan, will be the president, Prof Waryam Singh senior vice-president, Rajinder Singh Marwa vice-president, Jaspal Singh honorary secretary, Dr Joginder Singh Arora financial secretary and Dr Jaswinder Singh office secretary.
On the occasion, five resolutions read were Padmashri Sadhu Singh Hamdard Shiromani Patarkar award for a good journalist every year, fine Ragi, dhadi, preacher, poet, granthi will be given Bhag Singh Ankhi Award, to work for the release of Bandi Sikhs, more direct flights from Amritsar airport to overseas destinations and establishing a memorial of late Ankhi.
