‘Start Namo Bharat Rapid Rail from city to Chandigarh’

In a communiqué to the Union Railway Ministry, the Amritsar Vikas Manch (AVM) has urged it to start Namo Bharat Rapid Rail from Amritsar to Chandigarh and Jammu.

Addressed to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, AVM patron Manmohan Singh Brar requested him to consider and give the approval for the introduction of Namo Bharat Rapid Rail services between Amritsar-Chandigarh and Amritsar-Jammu.

These trains, being low-cost and fully air-conditioned, will provide excellent facilities to the common man, ensuring a travel with ease and comfort. Brar said such a service has already been introduced between Ahmedabad and Bhuj and has become an important mode of transport for residents and tourists of that region.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
