Student talent on display at cultural fest Jashan-2025
The second day of Jashan-2025, the inter-departmental cultural festival of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), continued to witness vibrant participation and artistic fervour at the university campus. Held in the spirit of celebration and creativity, today’s events showcased a rich spectrum of student talent across diverse artistic domains.
The competitions organised today included Shabad Bhajan, Western Group Dance, Creative Group Dance, Short Film Making, Instrumental (Percussion & Non-Percussion), Western Vocal Solo, Cartooning, Poster-Making, Painting on-the-Spot, Flower Arrangement, Collage, Rangoli, On-the-Spot Theme Photography, Mehndi, clay modelling and debate.
The day witnessed participation from student-artists representing around 45 departments of the university with each department adding a unique flavour of creativity and cultural richness to the event.
The competitions were held at multiple venues across the campus including the Dasmesh Auditorium, Painting Lab, Architecture Studio and conference halls, buzzing with the energy and excitement of participants, faculty and student volunteers.
The creative events such as On-the-Spot Theme Photography, Poster-Making and Rangoli brought visual splendour while debate and Western Vocal Solo added depth and voice to the vibrant festival.
Prof Harvinder Singh Saini, Dean, Students’ Welfare, appreciated the level of preparation and creative input shown by students across all events. “The second day of ‘Jashan’ truly reflects the diversity of talent nurtured at GNDU. From classical expressions to modern interpretations, our students have demonstrated excellence across every genre.”
The three-day cultural celebration will conclude tomorrow (April 19), with final competitions including Dance-to-Tune, Gidha and Quiz followed by the prize distribution function in the Dasmesh Auditorium.
