Students discover the joy of learning Telugu language, culture at camp

Students and teachers of the Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School here had the opportunity to learn a new Indian language, Telugu, during a seven-day summer camp organised at the school under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 framework. School Principal Satwant Singh Bains said the objective of the summer camp was to promote multilingualism among the students and teachers by teaching a new Indian language.

The seven-day camp saw enthusiastic participation from children across age groups and linguistic backgrounds. The students fostered learning and creativity in Telugu language. Participants were introduced to the objectives of the camp, followed by ice-breaking activities. Children learned Telugu alphabets, basic conversations, songs and poems during the camp.

The students and teachers also wore traditional attire, shared regional cuisine and celebrated the Telugu cultural heritage. The students also engaged in art and craft sessions.

A children’s film in Telugu was screened during the camp. The insights into the rivers, mountains and historical monuments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were given to the participants.

On the final day yesterday, colorful performances by students on songs, dances and skits in Telugu language were held. Certificates of participation were distributed by the principal. On this occasion, Harjeet Singh, Gurinder Singh, Navjot Singhi and Randeep Singh said the summer camp proved to be a significant step toward celebrating India’s linguistic diversity and making students aware of the importance of multilingualism.
