Students to get free career counselling

He said along with providing employment opportunities to the youth and making them capable of self-employment, special arrangements have been made for career counselling as well.
District Employment Officer Mukesh Sarangal said educated youth visit the employment office every day. “It has been observed that when children pass class 10 or 12, they are not quite aware on what subjects to choose for higher education and in which course to take admission. The applicant does not have special knowledge of this and regarding future job prospects in private and well as public sector,” he added.
“Keeping this public facility in mind, due to the efforts of the Punjab Government, special arrangements have been made for career counselling by the DBEE, Amritsar. The main objective of which is to help the students secure a bright future, as the subjects studied in class 10 or 12 have very important contribution in their career and sometimes by taking admission in a wrong course with wrong advice, the children suffer a lot in terms of money, time and psychologically,” he said.
He added those children, who wish to know the right direction for their career can visit the District Employment and Business Bureau at DC Office, Amritsar.
Apart from this, the bureau will also facilitate in setting up counselling cells in schools to tap in the kids early.
