Tarn Taran man among those killed in Georgia; family seeks help in bringing back his body home

The family of 35-year-old Sandeep Singh, victim of the recent Georgia gas poisoning tragedy, from the district, has requested for help from both the Centre and the Punjab government to bring back the mortal remains of their kin.

The family is seeking help to bring Sandeep’s body back home as soon as possible.

Sandeep’s father Balwant Singh, a resident of Tarn Taran, said he had taken a loan of Rs 6 lakh to send his son to Georgia just six months ago. Tragically, Sandeep’s life was cut short in the gas poisoning incident.

Baljit Kaur, Sandeep’s 32-year-old widow, expressed her grief, saying she had spoken to Sandeep on Friday, and he had shared his plans to settle into a better job. With Sandeep being the sole breadwinner, his passing has left the family, including their 8-year-old daughter, without a source of income.

The family met cabinet minister Anmol Gagan Mann and Rajya Sabha member Vikramjit Singh Sahni to request their assistance to bring Sandeep’s body back to Tarn Taran. The family is also seeking a government job for Baljit to support her and their daughter.
