Passengers noticed smoke billowing out from a coach of the train on the outskirts of Amritsar on Saturday. No injury to any persons was reported. The train was immediately stopped and with the assistance of some locals, passengers came out of the coach.

Even as passengers claimed to have seen an eruption of fire, railway officials said there was a technical problem called brake binding which led to smoke. Terrified passengers moved out of the train and raised an alarm. After the technical inspection of the coach by railway staff, the train was given the green signal to resume its onward journey.
