Three persons have been injured in two separate firing incidents allegedly carried out by the same man, identified as Chandan Sharma of the Adarsh Nagar area, under the jurisdiction of the Islamabad police station, here. Vipin Sharma, a complainant, told the police that he had gone to attend a ‘jagran’ at the residence of his friend Pawan Kumar late on Saturday night. He alleged that, outside the house, Gulshan Kumar of the same locality was arguing with an elderly man. When Vipin intervened, Chandan Sharma, Gulshan’s nephew, took out an allegedly illegal pistol and fired at him. Vipin sustained a bullet injury in his leg, and was rushed to a hospital. Police teams reached the spot soon after.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Vishaljit Singh said, following the incident, the police launched a search operation. He said, early on Sunday morning, when police teams were chasing Chandan, he attempted to flee on a scooter and collided with a passerby, Billo. Enraged over the collision, the accused allegedly opened fire again, shooting Billo.

The bullet pierced through Billo’s stomach and struck Sonia, who was passing by at the time. The accused managed to flee the scene.

Singh said all the injured were out of danger, and raids were on to arrest the accused.
