Three members of a family have been booked for fraud.

The suspects have been identified as Manpreet Kaur, her father Balwinder Singh and mother Sukhwinder Kaur, all residents of Lehian village.

Complainant Harpal Singh of Sursingh village told the police that Balwinder came up with the marriage proposal of his daughter Manpreet with his son Arashdeep Singh. The complainant said Balwinder told him that Manpreet had achieved seven bands in IELTS and she was eligible for student visa in any foreign country. After the marriage, both will settle abroad.

He said the marriage of his son and Manpreet was solemnised on March 28, 2018. After the marriage, they came to know that Manpreet was not eligible to apply for visa as she had not scored the required bands. He said she had also taken Rs3.7 lakh to apply for visa. A case under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC has been against the suspects.
