Three Pakistani nationals held under NDPS act repatriated

The Government of India on Friday repatriated three Pakistani nationals who had been lodged in different jails across the country on charges of drug smuggling and illegal border crossing.
The released prisoners — Mohammad Ramzan, Mohammad Iqbal and Asgar Ali — were repatriated to Pakistan via the Attari-Wagah land route. They were handed over to Pakistani Rangers after completion of immigration formalities at the Joint Check Post (JCP).

Arun Kumar, Protocol Officer at the JCP, said Mohammad Iqbal had been arrested in 1995 with 10 kg heroin and was released after serving nearly 30 years in prison. Mohammad Ramzan was arrested in 2010 with 5 kg of heroin.
Speaking to the media, Iqbal expressed happiness over his release and appealed to both the governments to release prisoners who have completed their sentences.
