Local tourism industry, reeling under Covid-9 impact, has seen the tourist footfall being dried up. They opine that such measures will lift the sagging morale of the industry.

Kulwant Singh Ankhi of the Amritsar Vikas Manch (AVM) thanked the government for conceptualising a Sikh circuit at a cost of Rs25,000 crore in the proposed expressway. This circuit would have stoppages at Sultanpur Lodhi, Goindwal, Khadoor Sahib, Tarn Taran and Amritsar.

This expressway was conceptualised under the Bharatmala Pariyojana for the highways that focusses on optimising efficiency of freight and passenger movement across the country by bridging critical infrastructure gaps through effective interventions like development of economic corridors, inter corridors and feeder routes, national corridor efficiency improvement, border and international connectivity roads, coastal and port connectivity roads and green-field expressways. — TNS
