An unidentified suspect duped a local tea trader of Rs 20 lakh by posing as an Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) official from Mumbai. The complainant, identified as Ramesh Kumar Mehra, a resident of the Rani Ka Bagh area, told the police that a month ago he got a call from unknown person who introduced himself as CBI official.

The complainant said the CBI official threatened to implicate him in a false case, if he did pay Rs 20 lakh to him. Fearing implication in a false case, the complainant paid the amount to the suspect. The cybercrime police station registered a case and initiated further probe into the matter.
