Truck ferrying diesel meets with accident in Verka

An oil tanker carrying thousands of litres of diesel met with an accident near a gurdwara in the Verka area here yesterday. The incident occurred when steering of the truck got jammed and the vehicle overturned on one side near the BRTS lane.

The incident created panic in the area as huge quantity of diesel started leaking from the truck. No loss of life was reported in the accident.

Following information, police teams immediately reached the spot and stopped traffic on the road in order to prevent any mishap.

Amanjot Kaur, SHO, Verka police station, said with help of the people and the administration the oil tanker was removed from road on Thursday evening. Fire brigade teams also reached the spot. Two cranes were used to lift and remove truck from the road.
