The Ramdas police have booked Parminder Singh, a resident of Sufia village, and an unknown driver of a truck on the charge of illegal sand mining. No arrest has been made so far while investigation is in progress.

In his complaint to the police yesterday, mining inspector Manpreet Singh stated that during checking in Sufia village, he found huge quantity of sand dumped at one spot. Parminder Singh, who was present there, told the mining inspector that he had ferried sand for the construction of his house. He also showed a bill with a GST number. During online checking of the GST number, it was found to be correct. However, there was no number of the shopkeeper on the bill nor it had any signature. There was around 3,500 cubic feet of sand at the spot.

The mining inspector said mining teams were suspicious that sand meant for selling further was illegally excavated. A complaint was submitted to the Gaggomahal police chowki for appropriate action after an investigation, said the mining inspector.
