Tarn Taran, January 30

Two gangsters managed to escape from Ghariala village here after opening fire at the Counter Intelligence (CI) team of the Amritsar police.

One of the accused has been identified as Prabhjot Singh of Dasuwal Mandi, Tarn Taran.

The police team was chasing the gangsters suspected to be carrying drugs and arms.

Taking advantage of dense fog, the duo entered the fields of Ghariala village near the International Border.

Finding themselves encircled by cops, the gangsters opened fire at the CI team and escaped from the spot.

Tarn Taran SSP Ashwani Kapur, who visited the spot, remained tight-lipped about the incident.
