Two residents of Sursing village have been booked under Section 376D, 452 and 506 of the IPC and Section 3 of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act for raping a married woman of the same village.

The accused have been identified as Arashdeep Singh and Yudhbir Singh. The incident occurred three days back while the case was registered after the preliminary investigation of Bhikhiwind DSP Rajbir Singh on Tuesday.

The victim, in her complaint to the police, alleged that she was sleeping with her kids in the early morning and other members of the family had gone to the village Gurdwara. The suspects, armed with traditional weapons, trespassed her house. They threatened her and Arashdeep Singh raped her. The victim belonged to a Scheduled Caste community.
