The search operation started around 11.30 am and continued till 3.30 pm. The raid was part of the ongoing investigations into the disproportionate assets case worth Rs 540 crores in which Majithia was arrested. He is currently in judicial custody.

A vigilance official wishing not to be named said that the basic purpose of the raid was to estimate the value of the assets of Bikram Majithia.

Vigilance officials, accompanied by executive engineers and a sub-divisional officer, mapped the premises to assess the value of both immovable and moveable assets in the house.

“We are evaluating all the assets and belongings in the residence,” said the official.

Prior to the raid, Punjab Police tightened security in the area. They barricaded the roads leading to the Green Avenue locality and restricting access to the public and media.

This was the third raid at his residence at Green Avenue. Yesterday also, the team had raided his house. However, following the raids in Amritsar, Majitha and Delhi, a Mohali court stopped the Vigilance Bureau from conducting searches seeking details of the proceedings conducted by the investigation teams.

The court also directed the reevaluation in the presence of Majithia’s counsel Kaler.

The first raid in this case was conducted at his residence on June 25, following which Majithia was arrested.
