The waterlogged Tarn Taran road in Chabal village has become a severe headache not only for the residents of seven villages around Chabal but also for the countless commuters passing through the road daily. The road serves as a lifeline for the people of the area as well as the residents of Chabal. The road is not just a lifeline for the residents of Chabal Pukhta, Chabal Kham, Chabal Adda, Baba Langah, Sawargapuri, Bhagel Singh Wala and Jhabal Mannan which are parts of Chabal under different gram panchayats but for the residents of other villages too. Chabal adda is the centre-point for countless villages of the area and the people from these areas come to the adda for shopping.

Raj Kaur, sarpanch of Chabal Kham, and other public representatives like Vikram Singh Dhillon, Devinder Sohal, Bakhtawar Singh, Harpreet Singh, Baljit Singh and others said ponds in these seven villages have never been de-silted for years. Moreover, there is no arrangement to drain out rainwater. They said it is easy to drain out water from the village ponds by linking them to the Kasur drain passing near here.

The people said in the rainy season, ponds in Chabal village overflow. Besides, rainwater does not get drained and as a result, accumulates on the Tarn Taran road, causing trouble for days together. The people of the area said they will continue to face this problem till the rainy season is over which is till the month of September. The shopkeepers said during this period, their business is affected badly. They said they have been appealing to the authorities to make arrangements for linking the village ponds with the Kasur drain for years but their appeal has fallen on deaf ears. As a result, they have been facing problems every year for long. The residents said they appealed to the authorities much in advance to take proper steps to avoid rainwater accumulation on the Tarn Taran road but due to the negligence of the administration, they have been facing inconvenience.
