Week after being replaced, sewer lid damaged again in Tarn Taran

Less than a week after the renovation work was completed, the lid of the sewer manhole has again been damaged. The lid installed right in the middle of the main road in Tarn Taran town, in front of the Tehsil Complex and the Quality Sweets shop, developed cracks a year back and was totally damaged four months back. Shopkeepers and commuters had been facing trouble due to the damaged condition of the lid as that area over the manhole caved in and mishaps were becoming routine.

Frequent complaints were being lodged by the public and renovation work was undertaken and completed 10 days back. Social worker Dalwinder Singh Pannu, Karam Singh Lalpura and others alleged that substandard material was used as a result of which the lid got damaged less than a week after the work was completed. Shopkeepers alleged that the work was not done properly, resulting in the sewer lid getting damaged again.

When pointed out, Deputy Commissioner Rahul said that the matter would be looked into and appropriate steps taken.
