The incident reportedly stemmed from a quarrel during a nagar kirtan procession in the village. The dispute between the accused and one Gagandeep Singh was initially resolved by nearby residents. However, the accused later armed themselves with firearms and sharp-edged weapons, went to Gagandeep’s house, and fired at the gate after hurling abuses.

Kulwinder Kaur, a neighbour of Gagandeep, was struck by a stray bullet during the attack. The assailants also damaged Gagandeep’s gate with their weapons before fleeing the scene.

A case has been registered under various sections of the IPC, BNS Act, and Arms Act. Villagers have alleged that illegal weapons were used in the incident. The police are investigating, and efforts to apprehend the accused are underway.
