A woman died on the spot and her husband and their minor son and daughter were injured in a road accident on the National Highways No. 54 near Bath crossing on Sunday evening.

ASI Gurmeet Singh of the Sadar police station said the deceased was identified as Baljinder Kaur (35). The injured were identified as Dharminder Singh (37), a resident of Dilawalpur village, falling under the Goindwal Sahib police station, Samarveer Singh (7) and Dilreet Kaur (5).

The ASI said the victim family was on way back home in their Swift car bearing registration No. PB-38D-6954. When they reached at the Bath crossing, one car bearing registration No. HR-26 AH 4112 coming from the opposite side jumped over the highway divider and hit their vehicle. The victims were taken to a local private hospital where doctors declared Baljinder Kaur brought dead. The other injured were under treatment at the hospital and their condition was stated to be stable.

The ASI said on the statement of Dharminder Singh, Gurarshdeep Singh of Kirtowal and Nirmal Singh of Booh Havelian were nominated as the suspects who caused the accident. A case was registered against them. Dharminder alleged that the suspects were under the influence of liquor. The suspects managed to escape from the spot leaving behind their Verna car.
