Gagandeep Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police, said that during preliminary probe it was found that the accused had strangled the victim with her dupatta and fled from the guest house.

He said as per investigation, the victim had been living in a live-in relationship with Gurmeet for past some time. However, he got suspicious that she also had illicit relations with some other guy. Therefore, he killed her after brining her to a guest house on November 15.
