Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) launched a movement to plant saplings in Patti division on Thursday. District Youth Officer (DYO) Jasleen Kaur said that on the first day, youths associated with Baba Dara Mall Welfare Society (Valtoha) and Baba Farid Hariyaavl Society (Patti) planted saplings on the premises of Model Colony, Patti. The DYO said both the societies will plant 1,500 saplings in Thakarpura, Ghariala, Valtoha, Algon Kothi and Bhikhiwind. Sandeep Masih, Ajay Daniel, Jasbir Kaur, Baba Assa and other members of the clubs participated in the drive.

The district police will also participate in the national level move to plant saplings. SP (Headquarter) Parwinder Kaur said every police station and the Deputy Superintendent of Police office — under the leadership of SSP Ashwani Kapur — will plant saplings in the move, which is being started from Friday.
