Budget airline career SpiceJet is all set to resume its popular Mumbai-Amritsar-Srinagar flight from tomorrow.

Earlier, domestic connectivity from the Amritsar airport was hit in December when the airline withdrew its flight after the DGCA regulators directed it to refund advance booking amounts to passengers. SpiceJet's fiscal troubles and the DGCA regulations upset the winter travel plans of tourists and pilgrims.

Amritsar and Srinagar flight restored the air connectivity between the two cities after many decades and linked the holy city with a high potential tourist circuit.

Resumption of the flight is expected to provide air link to wealthy tourist from the western India and jack up the business of tourist operators, travel agents, hoteliers and other businesses.

An airline official said the flight would land here at 12:55 pm after taking off from Mumbai at 10:15 am. It is scheduled to take off for Srinagar at 1:05 pm and would land there at nearly 2 pm.

Hemant Gupta, a tour and travel agent, said sales of tickets on the Mumbai-Amritsar-Srinagar route is expected to pick up soon. He added that the tourists preferred an hour-long air journey from Amritsar to Srinagar than the 15-hour long road travel which crosses through circuitous mountain routes.
