Singer enthrals with Dogri, Punjabi numbers

First-ever Dogri and Punjabi songs programme entitled ‘Sangeet Sandhya’, sung by Alka Anil Mahajan, an amateur singer from Jammu, was organised by Swaranjali Sangeet Vidyalaya at Abhinav Theatre on Sunday.
Dogri and Punjabi songs were presented by Mahajan for the first time on stage. The performance was received with enthusiasm and big applause. The special numbers presented in the programme included “Palla Sipaiya Dogriya”, “Daachi Waliya”, “Latthey Di Chaadar”, “Langh Aa Ja Pattan Jhanaa Da” and “Issey Gran Diya Lambrha”.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest NK Shil, Director, Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), said,”We need to explore the possibilities in the field of art and culture, which are available all around us. He said the art needed to be promoted in all situations and forms.
He appreciated the quality of emotive value in Mahajan’s voice. He urged the youth to recognise their potential in the field of music.
Accompanists in the programme were Bishan Dass on harmonium, Rakesh Anand on flute, Chander Jeesu on synth, Gharu Ram on guitar and Joginderon tabla. — TNS
