Bathinda: The Department of Computer Science and Technology in collaboration with Microsoft Student Partners organised a workshop on Azure Machine Learning and AI Gaming Platform at the Central University of Punjab here on Thursday. More than 50 students participated in the workshop. Dr Amandeep Kaur, head of Department of Computer Science and Technology, and Dr Satwinder Singh, programme coordinator, said during the workshop, participants learned various aspects of machine learning on Microsoft azure machine learning studio. They said training in AI gaming tournament was also provided in which participants taught about Microsoft computer vision cognitive services and game code programming. TNS

Man ‘jumps’ before train

Muktsar: A city resident allegedly committed suicide after jumping in front of a running train near Santpura Road area on the Bathinda-Ferozepur railway line here on Thursday. After being informed by area residents, members of a city-based NGO reached the spot and found a mutilated body. The NGO members intimated the GRP, Bathinda. The deceased has been identified as Tarsem Kumar, a resident of Guru Gobind Singh Nagar. The body was sent to the government hospital for a postmortem.” TNS

Thieves strike at 2 mobile shops

Muktsar: Thieves struck at two shops of mobile phones near Bharu Chowk in Gidderbaha on Wednesday night and decamped with items worth about Rs1.25 lakh. The thieves entered one of the shops by making a hole in a wall. They entered the other shop from the roof. The Gidderbhaa police have started an investigation in this regard. TNs
