On a call given by 14 labour organisations, a large number of farm labourers, students and farmers on Tuesday took out a rally against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in the town.

Earlier, they gathered at the Guru Gobind Singh Park and held a meeting.

Lachman Singh Sewewala, general secretary, Punjab Khet Mazdoor Union, said, “The BJP-led Central Government has passed the CAA in violation of the Constitution. On International Women’s Day on March 8, we will lodge a massive protest in Malerkotla against the Act.”
