Punjab Police have identified two assailants who shot at a local businessman near gate number 2 of Thermal Colony in Bathinda on Monday morning, SSP Amneet Kondal confirmed.

The victim, Lalit Arora, around 35 years old and owner of a sanitary shop, was attacked while he was sitting at a tea kiosk he visited regularly.

The two motorcycle-borne attackers, who had covered their faces, were already present at the spot and had tea before opening fires on him. They fled immediately after the attack.

Lalit, a resident of Santpura Road, sustained bullet injuries to his arm and thigh. He was initially rushed to the Civil Hospital and later referred to AIIMS Bathinda for advanced treatment.

A police team-led by SP (City) Narinder Singh reached the spot and launched an investigation.

 SSP Amneet Kondal said, “We have identified both the accused, and efforts are afoot to nab them. The family has not informed us about any enmity with anyone.”

A case has been registered at the Thermal police station.
