Two cases of black fungus (mucormycosis) have been reported in the district. However, one of them has lost his life at a private hospital in Bathinda. Besides, a suspected black fungus patient has been shifted to Faridkot for investigation.

“One patient died of black fungus, while another has returned from a hospital in Ludhiana. The third is a suspected patient,” said Dr Ranju Singla, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Muktsar.

Sources said all three, including the suspected black fungus patient, belonged to Gidderbaha subdivision. Meanwhile, 349 persons tested positive for Covid in the district in the past 24 hours. — TNS
