Faridkot: A digital light and sound show dedicated to the 550th Parkash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev will start at the new grain market in Faridkot from January 23 to January 25. The district administration has already set up a digital museum to start the light and sound show on Thursday. The show will be inaugurated by Faridkot MLA Kushaldeep Dhillon and Deputy Commissioner Kumar Saurabh Raj. Entry to the show is free for public. The light and sound show will depict colourful visual presentations, ultra-modern laser techniques and unique acoustics. Gurjit Singh, ADC, Faridkot, said the show was based on the life and journey of Guru Nanak Dev. The ADC reviewed preparations for the show on Tuesday. TNS

Four of family booked for fraud

Muktsar: The Lambi police have booked four members of a family on the charge of fraud. The 75-year-old complainant, Surjit Kaur, told the police that her daughter Paramjit Kaur, son-in-law Parkash Singh and grandchildren Ajaypal Singh and Jatinder Singh withdrew Rs47.51 lakh, which was saved in the form of fixed deposits (FDs), and deposited the amount in their own bank accounts. “They took me to the bank for the renewal of my FDs. But, they duped me by depositing the money in their accounts,” she told the police. A case under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC has been registered in this regard. The suspects, however, are yet to be arrested. TNS

SSD students shine in exams

Bathinda: Semester II Students of MSc (IT) of SSD Girls’ College, Bathinda, have brought laurels by securing excellent marks in the recently-conducted examination by Punjabi University, Patiala. Navjot Kaur came first with 83% marks, Raveena Rani got second position with 77.2% marks, Sandeep Kaur and Amandeep Kaur got third position with 76.2% marks. College president Sanjay Goyal, senior vice-president Parmod Maheshwari, secretaries Chander Shekhar, Vikas Garg and principal Parminder Kaur Tanghi congratulated the students for their performance. 17-year-old boy goes missing

Bathinda: A 17-year-old boy has gone missing in the city. In a complaint to the police, Balwinder Singh, a resident of the Nar Singh colony in Doomwali, said his son Jarmanjit Singh had left home for school on his Activa scooter on January 20 and had not returned till date. He said he feared he had been kidnapped. The police have registered a case. TNS

Dharamsot to unfurl Tricolour

Muktsar: Punjab Forest Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot will unfurl the National Flag at the Republic Day function in Muktsar on January 26. Muktsar DC, MK Aravind Kumar, on Wednesday reviewed preparations for the function. TNS
