Bathinda: The MC removed a number of encroachments along the Mall Road here on Tuesday. The anti-encroachment drive was conducted under tehabzari wing’s Inspector Parmidner Singh Cheema and Superintendent Pargat Singh. The vendors, who had occupied empty space near the Mall Road, were earlier directed to remove their kiosks and vends on numerous occasions by MC officials. The team officials removed encroachments from along the Mall Road, near the railway station and near Hanuman Chowk. Around two dozen of vends were removed during the drive. Police personnels were present to assist officials of the MC.TNS

Co-op society secy booked

Muktsar: The Lambi police have booked the secretary of the Kandukhera Multipurpose Co-Operative Society for allegedly submitting a forged date of birth certificate to the department. A complaint was filed with the police by co-villager Nishan Singh, who had obtained some documents of the secretary under the RTI Act. Balihar has been booked under Section 420 of the IPC. TNS
