Bathinda: The Bariwala police have booked five persons for allegedly committing a land fraud with a resident of Lubanianwali village here. The complainant, Gurpreet Singh, in his complaint to the police said Rajinder Kaur, Paramjit Singh, Avtar Kaur, Santandeep Singh and Amarpreet Singh of Kotkpaura had finalised a deal to transfer a land in his name and took an advance from him. But they neither returned the money nor transferred the land in his name. A case under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC has been registered in this regard. The accused are, however, yet to be arrested. TNS

Bathinda: A city-based NGO, Aasra Welfare Society, donated 51 sweaters to students of Shaheed Sipahi Sandeep Singh Smart School (government school). Ramesh Mehta, founder of the NGO, and Surinder Garg, in celebration of his son’s birthday, jointly made the donation. Mandeep Kaur, principal of the school, along with staff members expressed their gratitude to the NGO members for their noble gesture. TNS
