The functioning of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda, has been affected in the absence of a VC for the past four months.

The file pertaining to the appointment of the VC is stuck at the CMO. The tenure of Prof Buta Singh, VC, MRSPTU, ended on November 1.

Sources said the delay in clearing the name of the senior most Dean (faculty) as an officiating VC was due to pressure from certain quarters. A senior government functionary said the process to appoint a regular VC had been initiated.

Meanwhile, the charge of Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University, Ferozepur, has been given to Sushil Mittal, VC, IK Gujral PTU, Kapurthala.
