Shiromani Akal Dal (Amritsar) and Sangrur MP Simranjit Singh Mann today announced the name of Gurjant Singh Kattu as his party nominee for the upcoming byelection to the Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency.

He said SAD (A) had made a leader from within its ranks as nominee and made a comparison with the ruling AAP, saying it could not get a leader from within the party. Kattu is personal secretary of the Sangrur MP. He had contested from the reserved Mehal Kalan seat in Sangrur and secured more than 23,000 votes in the last Assembly elections.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
