Panic gripped the Paras Ram Nagar locality in Bathinda on Diwali night after a massive fire broke out at a sack manufacturing unit situated in Street No. 37. The blaze spread rapidly, engulfing the entire factory within minutes and triggering alarm among residents.

Eyewitnesses said they noticed thick plumes of smoke and fierce flames emerging from the factory premises and immediately rushed to assist. Locals initially tried to douse the fire with available resources, but their efforts proved futile as the flames intensified quickly.

Alerted by the residents, the fire department swung into action and dispatched several fire tenders to the site. As many as five fire brigade vehicles were deployed, and firefighters worked continuously to contain the inferno and stop it from spreading to adjacent structures.

Though no injuries or casualties have been reported, a significant quantity of material stored inside the unit was reduced to ashes, causing an estimated loss of several lakhs of rupees.

The cause of the fire remains unknown. Police teams have reached the spot and initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the incident.
