Officials stated that they were closely monitoring the situation and had intensified preventive measures.

“We are alert. A medicine specialist has also been appointed at Muktsar Civil Hospital,” said a senior health official.

However, residents expressed serious concerns over the prevailing sanitary conditions in parts of the town.

“Overflowing sewage in several localities has created an unhygienic environment and could become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. If swift action is not taken, the situation may worsen very soon,” said Gurpreet Singh, a local resident.

Authorities acknowledged the issue of sewage overflow and assured that steps were being taken to address it.

“We have deployed teams to clear blockages. Regular monitoring is being carried out to prevent water stagnation,” said an official.

The health department has urged residents to maintain cleanliness in and around their homes and shops, avoid water stagnation and immediately seek medical help if symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, muscle and joint pains, or rashes appear – common indicators of dengue infection.
