A newly laid stretch connecting Bhagu Road and Children Park Road has begun to wear out. The road has raised questions over the quality of material used in its construction. Residents are demanding a probe into it.

They alleged that it seemed that the work was not supervised to ensure whether it was being executed as per the laid standards or whether the quality of material used for carpeting the stretch was as per specifications.

They attributed the damage to poor workmanship and slack supervision on the part of the field staff and senior MC officials.

Mayor Balwant Rai Nath said, “The matter is in my notice and we have stopped the payment of the contractor. We have directed him to rectify the damage. His final payment will be made after the quality of workmanship and material used in road carpeting is found strictly as per the specifications laid down in the work order.”
