A quiz competition by Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Club was organised at the Central University of Punjab (CUP) here on Saturday. It was aimed at sensitising students to the cultural and demographic aspects of Punjab and Andhra Pradesh and fundamental rights and duties. The quiz was also based on the lives of Mahatma Gandhi, Guru Nanak Dev and the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. As many as 95 students participated in the quiz.

Dr Jubliee Padmanabhan and Dr Dinesh Babu, programme officers, welcomed the participants and informed them of the rules of the quiz competition. It was conducted in three rounds. A total of 48 teams of two students each took part in the first round. The top 20 teams of the first round entered the second round and five best teams competed in the final round.

In the first round, general questions were asked from participants whereas in the second and third rounds participants showcased their knowledge by answering the expert level questions on above-mentioned subjects. The team of Sheetal and Igona stood secured the first position to become the winners of the quiz. The teams of Soorya and Uday and Manish and Ankur stood second and third, respectively.

On the occasion, a team of All India Radio, Bathinda station, conducted live broadcast from the university campus wherein the announcers, Lavleen and Rajvir, interacted with CUPB students.
