Speed up development works in city, Manpreet tells officials

Finance Minister Manpreet Badal on Saturday asked officials of various government departments to speed up developmental works initiated by the state government. He reviewed the works being carried out in the city.

On Saturday, he visited the water works at Industrial Growth Centre. The Finance Minister asked officials to start the desilting work of water reservoirs.

He said around 20 per cent of potable water was supplied to various city areas from the water works situated at Industrial Growth Centre. The Finance Minister also asked the officials to ensure there is no paucity of water in the summer season.

Thereafter, he visited a blood donation camp where he appreciated blood donors. Manpreet offered all possible help for holding blood donation camps.

On the occasion, Manpreet also visited Adarsh School in Canal Colony and while addressing a gathering, he said the top priority of the state government was to provide excellent education and medical facilities. He also announced a grant of Rs40 lakh for the school.

He added that the government would assist city schools in upgrading their infrastructure.

During his visit to the government school in Sanguana Basti, he announced a grant of Rs20 lakh. In his speech, the Finance Minister said, “Children are future of the country and my government will make all-out effort to provide better education to those studying in government schools.”

He met local residents at the Zila Parishad office and listened to their issues. Some of the issues were resolved on the spot. He also presided over a meeting of the private schools’ association at Arya Girls School.

Apart from this, he visited the gun training range on Goniana Road, NFL School, SSD School, Malwa Heritage and Dunes Club.
