Balwant Singh Bhikhi, in-charge of special task vehicle, sensitised the students about the ill-effects of drugs. He said: “The drug menace is ravaging young people and annihilating the future of our generation. Unaware about its after effects, many youngsters fall prey to drugs and before they realise it their future is already sabotaged and there is no going back.”

“It’s time that youth of the nation not only become aware about the drug menace but also further spread awareness among others before things turn haywire. This is the responsibility of every individual that they take note of illegal activities taking place around them and inform the police. If there is any credible information anyone can intimate the police by dialing helpline number 112,” added Bhikhi.

He said names of persons would be kept secret for sharing information on drugs. The police exhorted students to encourage addicts in their vicinity to seek treatment at de-addiction and OOAT clinics run by the state government. — TNS
