Bathinda, November 21

Following an argument over eve-teasing at Bhagta Bhai Ka village, miscreants fired at a man, injuring him seriously here this morning.

While residents of the village caught hold of two assailants and roughed them up, the third assailant managed to flee the spot. The condition of the injured man is said to be critical till the filing of the report.

A case has been registered against the three accused at the Dayalpura police station. The injured man has been identified as 23-year-old Gurpreet Singh, who accused the assailants of eve-teasing.

Kuldeep Singh, maternal uncle of Gurpreet, said, “On Thursday morning, a heated verbal exchange took place between them following which the assailants fired a bullet at Gurpreet that pierced through his neck injuring him seriously. Gurpreet was taken to the government hospital at Bhagta and later shifted to the Civil Hospital in Bathinda. The doctors after observing his critical condition again referred him to a private hospital in the city from where he was shifted to Adesh Medical Hospital.”

The police have registered a case against the three accused, who have been identified as Harpreet Singh, Manpreet Singh from Romana Ajit Singh village and Avtar Singh, a resident of Rode village.
