A newly-wed woman was shot at while she was out for a morning walk with her husband at Bhagta Bhai Ka town in Bathinda district on Tuesday morning.

Harpreet Kaur and her husband Arshdeep Singh were near the grain market when some unidentified bikers shot at her. The bullet hit her on the leg. She was taken to the local Civil Hospital from where she was referred to the Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh Civil Hospital in Bathinda.

Arshdeep Singh told the police that the attackers came on a motorcycle. One of the men had his face covered, while the other was carrying a firearm. He opened fire on Harpreet Kaur and the bullet hit her on the leg. Arshdeep denied having enmity with anyone.

SP (City) Narender Singh said a case had been registered and the investigation was on.

Bhagta Bhai Ka police station SHO Harbans Singh Mann said a thorough investigation was being conducted into the incident. The culprits would be apprehended soon, he added.
